The therapeutic use of marijuana can help ailing people
It doesn’t require a lot of work or investigation on anybody’s part to find someone whose life has been positively impacted by the medicinal use of cannabis. Just try bringing up the subject at a social gathering, and you’ll soon discover how quick many people are to share their personal experiences or those of a loved one, who found some measure of comfort and relief during times of great challenge. These repeated and passionate anecdotes of patients who were battling serious, and in many cases life threatening illnesses, effectively utilizing cannabis to mollify their pain, ease their symptoms or stimulate their appetite – to name but a few of the regularly described uses – cannot help but leave an impact on an attentive listener.
Mindful’s story is that we heard other people’s stories often enough to decide that we wanted to be a part of an industry’s transformation from the shadows into the light.
When the Illinois Legislature passed the Illinois Compassionate Use of Cannabis Program in 2013, an opportunity was created to provide patients with access to relief that has been hiding in plain sight for too long. While marijuana is not a panacea and it is not the answer to everyone’s medical issues; it is certainly a serious therapy proven to provide effective relief for a wide range of illnesses and maladies. It is also not commonly associated with some of the debilitating side effects that accompany the pharmaceutical solutions that many quietly suffering patients are left with as their sole source of remedy or alleviation.
Our story, like your story, is still a work in progress. We are looking to engage with our patients to better understand what is working and what is not. We want to share knowledge and experience, so that together, we can help write the next chapter in the safe and effective use of medicinal cannabis.
