Introduction to Cannabinoids & Terpenes

The cannabis plant naturally produces over 400 chemical compounds which work in synergy to present a wide range of therapeutic benefits. This synergistic relationship, in which the proportion of specific cannabinoids and terpenes affect one another, is known as the Entourage Effect. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) are the most well-known cannabinoids: THC for its psychoactive effects, and CBD for its therapeutic benefits. Further scientific study is proving that a host of cannabinoids such as THCV, CBC, CBN, and CBG possess their own unique medicinal qualities. Likewise, terpenes such as Myrcene, Limonene, Nerolidol, Linalool, Terpinolene, and Ceneol are known to have their own therapeutic benefits and are known to enhance the effects of corresponding cannabinoids. Terpenes are also responsible for flavor, potency, aroma and color.
